Life Changes. 2012. Week 3

Project Life.
Week 3.

Surprised???
Yep. I wasn't even sure I would make it this long.
It has become part of my daily routine.
Print pictures on Saturday.
Scrap them on Sunday.
It goes fairly quickly as I have plan.
AND I DO love a GOOD Plan. :)

Week 3 was an emotional one for me.
Excitement too ----->SNOW. Lots of FAMILY TiME.
Lots of time for Reflection.
It was one of the weeks were an event occurs that changes the way you view your life.
You see the bad and the good of your life a bit differently.
You think.
I won't go into the WHAT but let you know that it has made a mark.
And now, I have emerged slightly refreshed.
Perhaps in a different set of Life Sunglasses.
But also ready for week 4.
The best part of Project Life is that you can see that life continues.
Memories are still being made.
There are still sounds of laughter.
It reminds us of ALL the GOOD.

Sunday- Just another relaxing day. Lexi came over to visit Jordan. Against their wishes, I captured it. :)
Monday- MLK Day. No work. No school. It sorta few by. Finally, toward the end of the day I asked Max what I could take a picture of today. He replied, "ME!"
Tuesday- OH the LAUNDRY in this house is uncontrollable!!! Mt. Clothes erupted onto the couch again. Ugh.
Wednesday- My fear. SNOW came overnight. We had a 2 hr. delay AND got out 1/2 hour early. SNOWMAGEDDON 2012 began.
Thursday- Thank goodness school was cancelled. It left me time to deal with some more important matters. Caught Calvin in his pjs playing some music. :) I needed to capture that image after the day I had.

Ok...I have to admit.
I DON'T do Pinterest.
I really don't even get it.
I see things 'pinned' on facebook and sometimes even 'like' them but that is the extent of my pin knowledge.
So...when some of the Unity dt gals started talking about it...I thought I would check it out.
I sorta of 'invited' myself.
And...I am still on a 'wait-list'. :(
Is it some social group I have been left of out? :)
The sweet thing is....I can still peek at the pinned stuff.
I can still be inspired....sort of like an outsider spying on the cool stuff.
AND....YES...I do see why it is so addicting...there is a TON of eye candy there.

Life Changes. 2012. Week 2

Project Life.
Week 2.
I am still going strong with my daily photos.

Here is a glimpse of life during the second week of January.
It was a relatively uneventful week.
Work. School. Soccer. Basketball.

Sunday-Mr. Calvin decided to build a house out of some balsa wood he found in the garage. He is a nonstop builder of things. The ideas just ooze from him. As do messes.
Monday- Jordan had double soccer practice. High school team. Club team. His two friends came home with him in between and ate up a storm. Then off to practice #2. Busy boys with temporarily full bellies.
Tuesday- Gwen & Max. They do make me smile.
Wednesday- Calvin created a lego ship that moved (the fire turns and propeller spins) as well as lights up. It is AMAZING. It didn't last long until the next creation was built.
Luckily I captured it!

Thursday- Calvin and Max had basketball practice. I got a few shots of Calvin. Yes....he is sticking his tongue out. Isn't that adorable? He is the smallest one out there. He tries so HARD. How can you possibly keep your tongue in your mouth when you are concentrating that hard?
Friday- End of the week. Nothing like coming home to a fire. It was a cold week. In the 20s. A cozy fire melts away the week, don't ya think?
Saturday- Poor Gwen. She hates when I take her photo. She turns away when she sees I get it out. She was looking so adorable under the kitchen table on Saturday morning. I had to capture it.
I finished off the page with a little quote that seemed to capture my week....
"Every day is a fresh beginning. Every morn is the world made new."

I sewed some tissue paper on this first one.
It gives it a really sweet texture.
We actually had some sun today too.

Here are a couple creations with the January Kit of the Month: Heart & Soul.

This first one, I was playing around with some markers.
I forget how much I like the multicolored flowers.
I cut out and popped up the frame around the flower.
Fairly quick.
VERY clean.
I have a friend & coworker who is needing a little pick me up. I think this one will do just fine. :)

I ADORE the butterfly in this kit.
I stamped it out in all the colors of the rainbow {well...almost..} and layered them.

Life Changes. 2012 Finish of Week 1

The reality is that most of the time, a day will be a little 4x6 picture.

Here is Wed., Thurs. & Friday.

1.4.2012- Max is a reader. There will SHOULD be a ton of pictures of him reading this year. This is the first one. :)

1.5.2012- My girlfriends and I at work take turns making each other lunch. It was my week. It was full of YUMMINESS too. Thursday was on of my favorites.....Barley & Edamame Salad. Document-worthy. :)

1.6.2012- I am a science teacher. We are studying viruses at school. The student's virus models were due on Friday. A creative take on an interesting content. :)

Saturday had me driving Jordan to a scrimmage. Then Max to practice.

I feel like a taxi service sometimes.

I captured a little juggling.

He actually liked these pictures too.

For a TEEN....this is HUGE.

This was the first year that Calvin made it ALL the way to the next year. Usually, he is off in dreamland by the time the next year hits.

So my resolutions are coming along swimmingly! :)
Yep.
I am still on track and we are a week plus in!

COOL, right?

Here is a look at my Project Life album.
Change is my word for the year.
Life Changes.
It does! :)
I am positive 2012 will be no different.
So why not document it?
Daily pictures. Some Unity stamps. A few embellishments along the way.

My eldest doesn't think I can keep it going.
What he doesn't get is that I think it is VERY ok to not document EVERY day.
If it turns into only the special moments of the week or month....well than it is MORE than last year.

It is a peaceful page.
Very natural.
That is what I strive to be....with all the change....peaceful and natural.

I am guilty.
Yep.
I make them every year knowing that they may not last the ENTIRE year but long enough to make it worth trying.

SO.....guess what.....three of them are crafty resolutions!

Any guesses?

1. TRY to keep my craft room clean....{try being the KEY word}
When you have TOO much stuff...it gets hard. That is my excuse anyways. :)

2. SCRAP more......{Lots of Unity images to keep me motivated, right!}

3. ATTEMPT Project 365 again.
Last year I broke my lens only a few weeks in.
So far...I have missed 1 day. oops.
But I am not discouraged. :)

As 2011 Comes to An End.....

Every year I make a layout of events from my year.
Photos that capture those places and memories that helped form me throughout the year. Stirring those emotions. Making me laugh, think, cry.....
I truly believe we are continually changing into who we were meant to be and ALL those moments are essential.
{here is a peek at the last 2 years....2010, 2009}

This year is no exception.
Actually...things were felt 110%.
Which is a mixed blessing, right?
Gotta feel the bad to appreciate the good?
Laugh hard at those moments so you want them again?
I am thinking so.
BUT it almost makes be a bit nervous about 2012.

WHAT A year it has been.

*Adventurous {travels to upstate NY 2x, Chicago 2x, Minnesota, California, North Carolina, Vegas, annual camping adventures throughout WA, new boating voyages, skiing at White Pass, attending some great professional sporting events, and running up 'the stairs' LIKE Rocky with my sister}

*Life Changing {the ending of my Paper Crafts adventure, the passing of my constant and beloved gram :( , my brother's 21st b-day, my mother's 60th, my son's driving permit, visits from TRUE friends near and far that keep me level and grounded and REAL, dressing as Wonder Woman just because {yep...I DID do that!}, and returning to my classroom}

I wet a paint brush and took some pigment directly from the gelato to 'ink' up my sentiment.

SO cool, right?

I was able to mix a blue and green tone to get the perfect color.

I have been playing with some fabulous NEW product, Mix & Match Color Gelatos AND Mixed Media Sampler set from Faber Castell.
I will be using them ALL week long so be sure to check back!

Don't you LOVE how those eyes sparkle a bit more? Well...it may be hard for you to see...in the picture but they do in real life. :) I used a Faber-Castell Blue Metallic pen to color the END. So cool! :)

I also used a GELATO and paint brush to add some yummy color to the edge. I love how it softens it up. Such a cool product! SO CREAMY! :)

Yesterday was a rough one for me. Saying goodbye to Paper Crafts was a tough decision.

My little Calvin must have felt it. He snuck away and made this for me. Of course, he added to the chaotic mess in my craft room! BUT it brought a little tear to my eye. I seriously am one of the luckiest mamas EVER.

Sometimes life gets filled to the brim. With silly boys, mountains of papers to grade, middle school kids to inspire into science, soccer games to attend, some spontaneous dances in the kitchen, and loud laughs.

It gets so filled and busy it has to say goodbye. Goodbye to friends that have touched hearts and imprinted souls. Life-long pals whose names bring smiles when said them aloud.
Yep.
It is time to divert the journey and break the six pack. :)

I remember my first CHA. It was a bit scary for me. Out of my comfort zone for sure!! :)
Look who welcomed me with a big smile. :)
Such an easy and fun friend to have. Susan. <3

Little did I know that I would have the honor of working closely with this wonderful woman. Me? A Go-to Gal? WOW! Don't think that I ever felt I deserved that title BUT boy was I ready for the ride.

So then it was official. Florida CHA! WOW. That is me. With the moxie fab gal, Cath.
She holds a very very special place in my heart.
Always.

Then the time came. Jess. Kim K. Kim H. Teri. Betsy. Stick 6 women from all over the country in 3 rooms in Utah for ed. board. You know what comes, right? Giggles, late nights, instant friendships that exceed ALL assignments. :)
I could call on any of these women at any time. That is how real it is with them. Goofy, yes....I have been guilty. Camera happy? Who me? Hee.. hee.. Loud? Well....you gotta have fun, right? I am just so complete and happy in their presence that I do admit, I can be a 'bit' boisterous! ha!

What a ride it has been? Flying off to Montana for World Card Making Day. Spreading the joy of card making with AMAZING ladies.

Yep. I got to hang with these AMAZING chicas at CKC Seattle!! Aren't I a lucky duck?

Back to CHA. Look at these REAL smiles. Gosh....the tears are flowing now. How I LOVE these women.

Back to Utah. Trips to American Crafts & Doodlebug. Always full of inspiration and laughter.

SO...I started teaching at the college again last night. It is just one night a week BUT that means I go from teaching at the middle school all day to an evening of teaching adults. That officially puts my work day from 7:30 am to 9:40 pm. YIKES! You all are feeling for me, right? ;)

Can you believe it?

WOWZERS!

This is the LAST hop of 2010.

And WHAT a YEAR it has been.

I was putting together my annual layout (it is a 2 pager this year!) and thinking about how lucky I am.

Seriously.

I am one fortunate chica!

Pure LUCKY really....I don't deserve this life over anyone else.

And the worst part is that SOMETIMES I forget how lucky I am.

I get overwhelmed and stressed and shut out those wonderful things and thoughts some days. Most days I just sit back and enjoy it though! :)

My year consisted of tons of visits and adventures with family and friends.

INCLUDING...

teaching at CKC in Portland, OR {with some help from FAB Teri!}

going to Winter CHA in Anaheim, CA {yep. I DO remember the fountain}

visiting Unity in New London, MN {my second home?}

attending the editorial board meeting at Paper Crafts in UTAH {lots of laughs here}

doing the annual Memorial Day & 4th of July Camping trips {dirt. hikes. drinks. friends.}

visiting Loftus Hot Springs, ID for my cousin's wedding {so lovely}

attending a Seattle Sounders and Seahawks game {i luv my mom}

had a GIRLY Weekend in Seattle {who knew that basil worked in a cocktail?}

travelling to Summer CHA in Chicago {got to see my aunt and cousin for the first time in over 10 years AND play in the rain!}

going to Tom Petty and Lilith Fair with my sister {GREAT TIMES!}

learning to SKYPE {keeping connected with those I love}

visiting family in New York {including my dad & gram- whom I haven't seen in FIVE years}

going back to teaching middle school science FULL-time after a 6 year absence {AND LOVING IT!}

attending ScrapFest in the Mall of America with some AMAZING friends {with a quick trip back to Spicer--it is NEVER too cold to make a late-nite jump in a lake, right?}

lots of coffee and nights out with a TRUE friend {although NEVER enough-->btw-you are NEVER too old to climb a tree} :)

Yes.

It has been a YEAR!

I can't wait to see what 2011 will bring. :)

With a list of Thank You cards to tackle and little motivation or mojo, I turned to Paper Crafts Jan/Feb edition. INSPIRING!

This first card was inspired by Jess' card on p. 17.

Unity stamps: Embrace You, Encompassed Grace

Next, I was inspired by Ashley's AMAZING card on page 59.

I just loved how she attached the naked chipboard heart with a ribbon.

So lovely.

I used some of the Hopscotch line from BasicGrey, and a Maya Road Ornate Tags chipboard frame.

It is the END of the Month....time for another Go-to Gals challenge. This month we are playing with Imaginisce.

I used some Dino-Roar Collection Chipboard Stickers and some Petrified Wood and Rumble & Roar patterned paper.

Isn't that just amazing? What a year!

Speaking of years.....did you see that the ENTIRE 2008 Kit of the Months will be retiring at Unity. Ahh...such a feeling of nostalgia when I think back to my first year with Unity.

These are some amazing kits--I made a TON of cards with them and lots of those were published in Paper Crafts. Yep, 2008 was my first time getting published in Paper Crafts! :)

A Moxie Fab Tassel Tutorial

Morning! Did you see this POST HERE -----> MOXIE FAB World?

Ready for a SUPER easy tutorial (only 5 steps!) on how to make your very own MOXIE tassel?

Here ya go....

1. Wrap some floss on a piece of cardstock.

2. Gently pull off the floss and tie a knot around the loops.

3. Fold the top loop down.

4. Add a hanging loop (if you want) with the extra floss and then wrap around and tie off. This knot can easily be tucked under.

5. Cut the ends!

Morning! SO....my camera battery charger is SOMEWHERE? It could be in Seattle? Buckley? Bellingham? Minnesota? All I know is it is not in Kennewick! So I will have to apologize....I ended up using Jason's underwater camera....if I can only figure out a way to get the card to stay in the water! HA!
